The New, Improved Character Survey of Doom
NOTE: THIS SURVEY MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR FIRE EMBLEM PATH OF RADIANCE AND FIRE EMBLEM RADIANT DAWN!
Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is she heavyset, thin, short, rangy?
Ilyana is a very thin, very lithe girl. She's pretty short... I generally figure somewhere around 5'3, maybe 5'2... but it's hard to say thanks to Fire Emblem not exactly being very... clear on such things. However in Radiant dawn she is shown being nearly a head shorter than Heather, so we know she's at least on the shorter side.
2. How old is she?
Another one that is nearly impossible to prove in canon. However I did my best estimations given what history I have to work with, and figure she was 17-18 during the first game, and since the second game takes place three years later, she was probably 21 at the end of the game which is where I took her from.
3. Describe her posture. Does she carry herself well or does she slouch?
She usually slouches, although not cognitively. It's more just because it's more comfortable, and she's always feeling so weak.
4. How is her health? Is she fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?
Ugh... where do I begin? Ilyana is always one step away from starving to death. Her health is terrible as a result, with her almost always passing out, feeling weak, tired, and of course ravenously hungry. Technically she has no medical condition according to every doctor she's ever seen in Tellius. So much of who she is revolves around this condition she suffers with. She's not exactly the most physically fit either, as shown in this support conversation with Lucia.
5. How does she move? Is she clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?
Ilyana is a unique blend of graceful, and incredibly clumsy. She's naturally pretty graceful, but her hunger makes her rather clumsy, so she'll pass out and crash things over from time to time too.
6. How attractive is this character physically? How does she perceive herself in the mirror?
She's... pretty darn attractive. She knows she isn't the most attractive person in the world, but she tries her best to be as appealing as she can be. The main reason for this being that she hopes to attract people enough that they'll be willing to feed her. (Her life revolves around food ORLZ?)
7. Describe her complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?
Her complexion is quite light and clear. She doesn't have any blemishes, and her skin is nearly flawless. She probably could use a bit more sun, because her skin is so pale, it's practically translucent.
8. Describe her hair: color, texture, style.
She has very soft fluffy... silvery purple hair? That's a really hard hair color to pin down really. To be quite honest I'm not sure if there's a name for the hair style either, but she likes to keep it at that length, and she takes very good care of her hair.
9. What color are her eyes?
Violet
10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?
Umm... you mean besides the whole eats like a starving person, and her whole life practically completely revolves around food? She likes miniskirts, and hates wearing pants :| That's... pretty much all I got.
11. What are her chief tension centers?
Almost definitely her shoulders, but also to a certain degree her thighs.
12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does she have six of the same suit?
Ilyana loves to dress up in a bunch of different kinds of clothes and outfits if she can. It's not a luxury she's often afforded, given that most of her funds going into keeping herself fed. She usually likes pastel colors for her clothes, and is fond of green, yellow, white, and violet colored things. In canon she's seen with at least 5 different outfits.

13. Do her clothes fit well? Does she seem comfortable in them?
Yes on both accounts. Sometimes she gets a little cold in her miniskirts in the middle of winter, but she still prefers it over bundling up excessively.
14. Does she dress the same on the job as she does in her free time? If not, what are the differences?
No, she dresses the same way on the job as she does in her free time. As a mage, she's afforded the luxury of being able to get away with wearing just about anything she wants in battle. As long as it isn't too restricting, as she requires free movement of her hands to trace the magic runes in the air properly. This is where part of her detest for any clothing that is too restricting comes from.
15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?
None of the above :| She wears panties... and maybe... just maybe if she were feeling particularly bold she'd go commando >_>
Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?
Her voice is very soft, very quiet, and also sounds a little... I want to say sad, or tragic? I can't quite describe the pitch, but it's not really high-pitched, but it's not very deep or low either. It's pretty average for a young woman really.
2. How does she normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does she talk easily, or does she hesitate?
Like I said, her voice is very soft and quiet, and its' also generally a little on the slower side. As if the words are a little tiring for her to say. She hesitates constantly when she talks, almost always second guessing what she wants to say, and just taking pauses to find a better way to articulate it. She will almost always have a "..." In her sentences, unless she really starts to get into a conversation.
3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?
She likes to say "Um..." a lot when she talks. Either that or "Hmm...", "Ah...", or even, "Oh..." as she's often quite shy and hesitant in her speech patterns. As a mage she also has a very good vocabulary from extensive studying, and often can speak very eloquently when she isn't pausing every other sentence.
4. What language/s does she speak, and with how much fluency?
There are only two languages on Tellius that are seen in canon. The common tongue that everyone speaks, and the ancient tongue that only certain Laguz seem to know, and mages. Mages all have to study the ancient tongue, as all magic and spells are written in it. Because of this, Ilyana knows how to read it quite intricately. Due to her unique time with the item peddlers she also learned much of how to write with it to create new magical tomes, and to cast the spells she must speak in it. So she is completely fluent in the ancient tongue, which is a rare gift among the beorc (humans) of her world.
5. Does she switch languages or dialects in certain situations?
When spell casting, and occasionally when cursing and she doesn't want anyone to know she's swearing at them. There are very few other instances she needs to speak it.
6. Is she a good impromptu speaker, or does she have to think about her words?
She usually has to think very carefully about what she wants to say, but she's actually pretty good as an impromptu speaker. She simply lacks the confidence most of the time in her own words, to speak them without pausing to consider them first.
7. Is she eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?
She's usually quite eloquent when she's writing, as she can take all the time she needs to process her thoughts. However she's a little less so when speaking, as she get's a little shy or flustered, even though she doesn't mean to.
Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is she book-smart or street-smart?
Ilyana is very intelligent, bordering on genius. She's quite book-smart as she had learned how to master magic at a very young age. However, she often hides how intelligent she is, as she finds it works more to her advantage this way. If people think of her as nothing but a frail little girl, it is their folly for underestimating her, and letting their guard down. It's not that she's particularly malicious or anything, but she often will unintentionally manipulate people so that they'll feed her. Sometimes... a little more intentionally than others.
2. Does she think on her feet, or does she need time to deliberate?
When she's having conversations she usually needs time to deliberate, as she's a little indecisive, always worrying what other people think of her. She wants everyone to like her so that they'll feed her when she's starving, so she's usually pretty cautious about saying anything that might hurt that.
When it comes to thinking on her feet as far as actions, or tactics, or things that are important, she is quite agile minded. I head canon, that lightning magic is the hardest form of magic to master in Tellius, as you need to be able to think nearly lightning fast to be able to control it. She is the only lightning magic user in the game for a reason, and behind her innocent face holds a very cunning mind.
3. Describe the character's thought process. Is she more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?
I'd say she's generally more intuitive, but practical. To be able to think at lightning speed relies on her being able to trust her instincts and just know which way the lightning must flow. She tends to think many things are pretty obvious, or the secrets of the universe are there, just within plain sight if you know how to reach out and grab it. Yet more often than not she's also incredibly practical, as she's had to face some very real hardships in her life that made her this way. She's fought in two wars, she has no blood family that we ever see, and she is always, always hungry. So she tries to be practical, as being idealistic doesn't usually keep her very well fed.
4. What kind of education has the character had?
She's self taught really, just having had a passion to learn the wonders of her world. As a mage she's quite learned, but she's had no official schooling or education to speak of.
5. What are her areas of expertise? What, if anything, is she interested in learning more about?
Her expertise as you may have guessed from my earlier ramblings, is in magic. Specifically, lightning magic, which few other mages in her world are capable of mastering nearly as well as she can.
6. Is she an introvert or an extrovert?
Probably an Extrovert.
7. Describe the character's temperament. Is she even-tempered or does she have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?
Usually Ilyana is very laid-back, even-tempered, and a little bit melancholy. She usually just doesn't have the energy to feel much of anything else.
8. How does she respond to new people or situations? Is she suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?
Generally? She's pretty relaxed. Certain people or situations will spark her interest more than others, especially if it involves food. She's also often a little timid when first meeting certain people she may be unsure about.
9. Is she more likely to act, or to react?
From what I can gather, react. She doesn't like to act out unless necessary, but she will if she deems it to be.
10. Which is her default: fight or flight?
It depends on the situation. For conversations it's usually flight, but for confrontations it's usually fight.
11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does she appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?
Ilyana has a fondness for certain kinds of jokes and puns, but usually doesn't laugh very much. That's not to say she won't laugh at all, but it usually takes a bit more than usual to get her to laugh. She doesn't generally appreciate pranks, dark jokes, bathroom humor, or slapstick. Although you might actually get her to nervously laugh or blush with naughty jokes.
12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does she deal with them?
Nope~!
13. What moments in this character's life have defined her as a person?
Oh god... so many. Let's see... the loss of her family, whenever that had first occurred, and then also more importantly, when she first left her hometown to see the world. Before then she'd always been able to rely on the townsfolk to feed her and take care of her, but when she traveled out on her own, she almost died. Were it not for Muston's merchant caravan finding her passed out on the side of the road, she would have died.
Let's see... there was probably the first time she killed someone with her magic, there was when she first joined up with Ike's mercenary group, there was when she was captured and put into a Begnion prison. One of the events that also defined her quite heavily was when she fought against Micaiah's army when working with Ike. She had to face many of her close friends in that battle, and it left her a bit more jaded... but wiser.
Probably the thing that affected many of the characters of the series the most was the whole mess with Ashera. Many of the most basic foundations of her beliefs had been shaken after those events, and have made her into the person she is today.
14. What does she fear?
Starvation... mostly just... starvation. She would also fear losing those that she cares about most... Oh, and she's also afraid of spiders.
15. What are her hopes or aspirations?
That's... a very difficult question to answer. She's almost always focused on the short term things, such as what am I going to do about food today? Someday she might like to get married... maybe settle down and have kids, or at least fall in love. Though that isn't really one of her primary goals in life, and not one she actively strives to fulfill. She'd like to learn everything she can in her lifetime, and possibly try to share her knowledge with as many people as possible.
16. What is something she doesn't want anyone to find out about her?
Well... she generally doesn't like to let people know just how much she eats. Probably one of the things she doesn't want people to find out most, would be just what kind of things her hunger does to her kink wise. She's not generally very sexual by nature, being a bit shy, and not very confident in that particular regard. But when she is... she can scare herself sometimes.
Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with her parents.
They're probably dead. They probably died when she was quite young, although we don't know for certain.
2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?
She does not have any siblings.
3. Are there other blood relatives to whom she is close? Are there ones she can't stand?
No blood relatives either.
4. Are there other, unrelated people whom she considers part of her family? What are her relationships with them?
The merchant caravan that she travels with has become like her family now, with Muston being like an uncle to her and Aimee like her Aunt. Jorge and Daniel are like a pair of older brothers to her, and she loves all of them a lot. She'd been traveling with them for seven years at the beginning of Radiant Dawn, so since she was 14, and they first discovered her on the side of the road. I generally imagine that she probably used to tell Aimee about things like crushes she had, or things like that. Aimee is the magic user of the merchant group, and in charge of creating the magical equipment, so I generally think Ilyana was closest to her.
5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?
Ilyana has several best friends, almost all of which she met through the war with mad king Ashanard. In Path of Radiance Ilyana is capable of supporting up to five different characters those being Gatrie, Mia, Mordecai, Zihark, and Lucia. She is particularly close friends with all of them. In Radiant Dawn any character is capable of supporting any character... so I generally think she thinks of all the characters in the game as friends. Yet the closest ones are probably the ones I've just mentioned. Along with a few others like, Heather, who she'd met in Radiant Dawn. She's also considers herself to be close friends with Ike and Micaiah, both of whom had rescued her when they first met. Yet of all her friends, she was probably still closest with Aimee, even though we don't get to see any interactions between them.
6. Does she have other close friends?
See question 5.
7. Does she make friends easily, or does she have trouble getting along with people?
She usually does get along with people pretty easily, although she's often pretty nervous when she first meets new people. She also didn't used to be very open about herself with others, but she opened up a lot after becoming friends with her friends during the war.
8. Which does she consider more important: family or friends?
Well... considering she doesn't have any family, she'd have to say friends. Though she might say friends that were like family.
9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has she been married more than once?
She's never been married before, although she has dated a little bit. She might like to get married someday, but that day is probably a long ways off.
10. Is she currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?
No.
11. Who was her first crush? Who is her latest?
Her first crush ever was probably someone we never even knew about. Though if we were to go by canon, her first crush was probably Lucia, as Lucia is the one she is shown to care the most for in support conversations. She made her strive to do more, and be a better and stronger person, and Ilyana will never forget her for that.
12. What does she look for in a romantic partner?
Most importantly... someone who will feed her, and doesn't mind her eating, no matter how much she eats. She also looks for someone who will care for her, be gentle and kind to her, and make her strive to do more, and broaden her horizons. She likes the idea of someone dragging her along to strive for something better, that she wants to be. So in the case of Lucia, she wanted to be stronger, and Lucia kept pushing her to become stronger, even though it was really hard for her.
13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does she relate to them? If no, does she want any?
Someday she might want children, but that seems a long ways off. The long ways away part especially seems true, since many of the people she seems to fall for happen to be females.
14. Does she have any rivals or enemies?
Actually... no, not really. Her only enemies are dead now... apart from maybe Duke Oliver of Tannas. She might also consider herself to be rivals with Bastion who also has romantic feelings for Lucia, and is also an Arch Sage.
15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does she fall on the Kinsey scale?
She's pretty bisexual, not really taking gender very much into account when thinking of romantic partners. She doesn't really understand sex very well, so is pretty open to either gender when it comes to it. On the Kinsey Scale she might be a 4 though, as she does tend to lean a little bit more towards other females, or prettier guys.
16. How does she feel about sex? How important is it to her?
Like I said... she doesn't really understand it very well, as she's never actually had it. She never really met anyone she actually wanted to have sex with until she met up with Ike's mercenary group. Even then, it was more of just a curiosity thing. She's a bit more curious now than she used to be though, and she wishes she were a bit more confident sexually. She has some kinks that she felt were very abnormal (Such as being attracted to women), so she was always keeping herself rather repressed. So at this point in her life... sex is pretty important to her, but she's still very shy about it.
17. What are her turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?
Oh jeez... this question... Okay... to start off with, I've made a list of Ilyana's kinks here. For those of you who want me to go into more detail, keep reading, and I'll try not to get too embarrassed. LAST CHANCE! SKIP NOW OR FOREVER HOLD YOUR PEACE! Okay, we good? We good ^^;
Let's start off by just saying right here and now, she's got a massive oral fixation. It comes from her need to eat all the time, and it translates into her liking to use her mouth constantly during sexual encounters.
Okay, turn ons for her with guys are... let me think. She likes strong guys, but she also wants them to be intelligent as well, or at the very least passionate. She would like a guy who's very assertive, the kind of guy who'd take the chance and sweep her off her feet without even asking. That doesn't mean she necessarily wants to just be swept off her feet by some guy, but it is a turn on for her. She usually likes her guys to look kind of like they could be a prince or a knight from a fairy tale. It's a little sad, but she likes her guys... well kind of pretty really. Either that or really cute.
As far as body parts on guys go, turn-ons for her are muscular chests, the butt, and the lips if they're good kissers. Remember that oral fixation I was talking about? Well, it also applies to her being really curious about oral sex... so she'd probably happily, and enthusiastically, suck on a guys penis all day long. And while we're on that lovely topic, let's go onto another one of Ilyana's REALLY weird kinks... Vore! It's not a realistic kink really, seeing as how it's not like she actually could... enact it under normal circumstances. However... this is RP, so it still... could happen. >_> She likes the idea of swallowing someone whole and alive, or being eaten herself. In a sense this is due to her needing to eat all the time, and because of the excessive quantity of it she needs to consume on a regular basis, she starts to confuse food with love. Feeding her is a form of showing love to her, so eating someone would also be a form of love, or feeding herself to someone.
She doesn't just want to eat others she's sexually interested in, but even more, she likes the idea of being eaten. Her biggest turn on of all would be to be eaten by someone or something, especially if they kept telling her how delicious she was, and stroked her body with their tongue. To her, being eaten would be the ultimate expression of love she could give, as she would be surrendering herself completely so that the other might gain sustenance from her. She also loves the idea of the primal level of hunger involved in being eaten by something like a giant frog or snake. She'd also probably like the feeling of being trapped in the hot, wet, sticky confines of the throat, or perhaps the body of a snake. So I guess Claustrophilia is yet another kink we can add to her weird list of kinks.

I could go on for pages, and pages explaining all of Ilyana's weird kinks, but... I probably shouldn't >_> I just felt it was important to explain the one she feels most awkward about having, and most turned on by.
Turn-ons for her involving Women are a bit different than her turn-ons involved for guys. She really likes legs a lot... like a lot, a lot. She loves the idea of having a woman's legs wrapped around her, or entwined with her own legs. She also likes breasts, and with her oral fixation also likes the idea of being able to suck on them. One of her weirder fetishes is supported by canon actually, and that is she has a bit of a foot fetish. She likes girl's feet, and trying to lick, nibble, suck, and bite them, usually the more delicate and soft the foot, the better. The idea that she's so attractive that they have a hard time controlling themselves around her is a major turn on for her. It's not one she'd like to readily tell her partner, as that can lead to all kinds of embarrassing situations, but she really appreciates bolder moves, especially with those she likes.
Finally we have turn offs, which include hair anywhere but on the head. She just doesn't really like it, and it kind of makes her feel queasy because she doesn't like the idea of getting hair in her mouth generally. So since she'd like to lick and taste every part of her sexual partner's body, hair is a turn off for her. This may seem obvious, but any bathroom related kinks are also a major turn off for her, as well as blood. She likes it rough, but the second blood comes into play, she feels like she's going to pass out. Let's see... hair pulling is a turn off for her, as well as spanking. Also another one that should be pretty obvious, is she hates being called a slut, or insulted in any way during sex. Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does she fit type?
Well... since we don't actually know her real birthday, I'm using my own to substitute it... since I also play her at the same age as myself. So that would mean in her world she would have been born in 623 which according to my calculations means... holy crap it's the exact same as mine o_O So she's a goat... and an Ares. And... they both actually kind of fit her if you go see for yourself.
2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in her life?
Ilyana was about as religious as the next person in the Fire Emblem world, which is to say relatively religious. Their world was created by the goddess Asheruna, and she lived among her creations for eons, so it's hard to deny her existence. Certain events at the end of Radiant Dawn shook her faith heavily, as she had to fight against the goddess Ashera, to save the world. She being one half of the complete goddess Asheruna... so it's a little complicated. Suffice to say though... she's a firm believer in an afterlife, and much magic in her world is fueled by faith. Such as the healing staves.
3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it?
It probably started with her parents when they were still alive/around, and then probably continued with the villagers, and was reinforced by Muston and Aimee the merchants. Although Aimee probably got her to just a little more flirty and girly than she was before. As for morality? I can't really describe every little thing that falls into her code of morals but suffice to say, she doesn't like to deviate from them very often. She might if a friend encourages her too, or a compelling argument is made to her to change her mind.
4. How does she regard beliefs that differ from hers? Is she tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?
She's... not very tolerant of beliefs that differ from hers but she's not intolerant. She's incredibly curious about beliefs that differ from hers though, and is always seeking to learn about other people's cultures and ways and religions. She strangely enough likes to follow the scientific method the majority of the time, but also has a belief that believing in something makes it more real.
5. What prejudices does she hold? Are they irrational or does she have a good reason for them?
Pretty much the only prejudice she has at this point is against Senators. She views most politicians as being horribly corrupt, and to be fair she has good reason to think this. Her entire world was almost destroyed by the goddess thanks to the actions of some very evil senators.
Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is she rich, poor, comfortable, in debt?
Ilyana is almost always dirt poor thanks to always having to spend every bit of her money on food. She has a very firm belief of not incurring financial debt upon herself, so never takes out any loans to buy food or anything like that, but she's almost always just scraping by. It doesn't help that she also likes fancy clothes, and magical equipment costing so much as well.
2. What is her social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected her?
Her social status has always been almost everywhere on the spectrum. Yet through all of it, she's remained pretty much the same as she's always been, although she's usually a bit more chipper when well fed, and thus enjoys spending time in cities more than on the move.
3. Where does she live? House, apartment, trailer? Is her home her castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does she share it with others?
She usually lives on the road with the traveling merchant caravan, as they are one of the few groups able to afford and support her heavy food needs.
4. Besides the basic necessities, what does she spend her money on?
Food. :| That's about it. She likes fancy clothes and boots and things like that, so when she can splurge she sometimes will do that. But otherwise... all her money goes towards her endless apatite.
5. What does she do for a living? Is she good at it? Does she enjoy it, or would she rather be doing something else?
Ilyana is a mage, and she's very good at what she does. She takes great pride in her magical abilities, and always appreciates it when people praise her skills. She can't think of anything she'd rather do than be a lightning mage, wielding arcane might, and studying the mysteries of the universe.
6. What are her interests or hobbies? How does she spend her free time?
Well she likes to eat... and she also loves to read, research magical theory, talk with friends, eat, sleep, pass out from hunger, try on neat clothing designs, convince people to feed her, ice skate, maybe play a strategy game, but mostly... she likes to eat. It's her truest passion, hobby, joy, and necessity in life.

She never skips meals, she will eat at every opportunity she gets, and she'll eat just about anything anyone ever offers her. She'll even eat someone's boot if she's hungry enough. This woman can out eat anything on the planet, and needs to eat seven helpings every meal, or risk going into a hunger induced coma. Her eating habits are almost as far from normal as they can get. She doesn't generally drink alcohol though, as she doesn't like the idea of having her mind effected by any negative factors. As a mage she likes to keep a clear head, so that she's always ready for whatever situation might occur.
As far as food goes, she likes things that are filling the most, so usually meats, or things with high calorie content. She also loves flavorful skillful cooking, and will practically do anything to get her hands on certain foods if they are tasty enough.
